At its inaugural AI Summit, Equinix unveiled its new Distributed AI infrastructure designed to power the next generation of AI and agentic systems. The announcement introduced Fabric Intelligence, an automation layer for AI and multicloud workloads; a global AI Solutions Lab spanning 20 locations; and expanded access to its 2,000+ partner ecosystem for high-performance inference and edge-to-cloud connectivity. Prior to these advancements, developers relied on manual peering, VPNs, or custom data pipelines to connect distributed AI environments, approaches that added latency and governance complexity. With 54.4% of organizations deploying hybrid models and multi-cloud connectivity still a top operational pain point, most enterprises have lacked a unified backbone to connect inference workloads globally.

Equinix’s Distributed AI infrastructure may effectively abstract this challenge. By embedding observability and orchestration directly into its interconnection platform, developers gain programmable control across regions without managing custom integrations.
